HOW BEST DO YOU HANDLE BOOKS AS A STUDENT?

“A room without a book is like a body without a soul”, Cicero, the Greek Classical Orator said. “Book” comes from the Latin word “Liber” In other words, it is a published document with such a bound collection of sheets. From Liber, the word “Library” was coined. Modernly, books are often stored electronically as E – Books.

Erasmus, one of the renowned Philosophers said “When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes.” This paints it clearly enough that books are as crucial as the air we breathe to survive. However, some students cannot grasp fully the need to handle such a mighty weapon circumspectly. Students are fond of crucifying books while others travel a mile to the point of causing the beautiful pitiful crime of folding books into their pockets. Others will pick them with wet or stained hands to deface it.

To be explicit enough, handling books wrongly is a highlighted indication that one does not value education and is naive and yet to understand the gospel according to Education. A survey on how best you handle books authenticated the fact that, “How your books are is who you are in disguise”.

SOME NOTED WAYS STUDENTS HANDLE BOOKS WRONGLY INCLUDE;

1. Folding them into their pockets.

2. Touching them with wet or stained hands.

3. Writing and Drawing on the covers.

4. Throwing books especially when vexed or wrathful.

5. Taking leaves out of books.

6. Super Super glue to fasten torn pages which tends to deface the book.

However, it is noted that the legitimate crime caused by individuals, and precisely students is the refusal to study or read books. In some rooms, books are nicely packed and shelved ranging from Theories to theories, Histories and journals and an ocean of books which could fill another George Padmore Library

Looking at this critically, reading they say, “Maketh a man” and books are the gateway to study anything thrilling and tremendous. Make sure you rightly handle the weapon used in wars without slaying and spilling bloods. Indeed, how we handle books determine how we handle our lives and destinies we hold in our hands.
